My thoughts: 1. win XP 32 is almost dead(near complete EoL). On the other hand it cannot support more than 3,5Gb of RAM(with dirty tricks). x64 is superior in all the aspects. Vista also offers DX10 and video memory virtualization(which is VERY important when dealing with big meshes... and xp64 cannot do this). Some shops… -

i think it's great you're pursuing a degree. i'm about to graduate and i've got something to pass by you last minute. i'm not sure how much thought you've put into this. these degrees are not cheap. honestly, think of what you could buy with your total tuition amount. i probably could have bought my way into a game company… -

I replaced the expensive plant meshes I once had that had each individual leaf as a mesh, and replaced them with transparent plane geometry that takes each plant from 1,000 polys to about 10. Thanks Daz. That tank almost got me my first real full time job at least two years ago so I sort of have a little love for it. The art lead of the team really loved it, but he felt my work was inconsistent. All the models are made to fit in RTS games except the Cute Tank. I do hate the very hard highlights on the M1 tank… -

1500 is right on actually I think. If your work is good enough to actually get some freelance then you could probebly be working at a game company making something in the 50-60K range which translates to probebly around 1500 for 2 weeks of work after taxes. Ehh they must be paying you low wages there at 5000 . Probebly why… -
