Thanks! Yeah it's definitely tough and I'm also directing the project which gives a bit of added stress. Yeah there's only so much to be done in the time so I'll just do the best I can with what I've got! Appreciate the advice
i'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't really think anyones using maps as high as 4k for realtime, i think they're too stressful on the RAM, but i could be wrong, environments arn't really my thing!
@Muzz - Here's some of my textures. I haven't been hand-painting textures for very long, so any advice or diagrams would be VERY appreciated as I've been stressing over this student project for a while now lol. Thank you! ^.^
thanks for showing of the rig as well! :D THAT is what I wanna see! :D well done, too bad you didn't stress test the torso any in the video, am I correct in assuming it's because it's not skinned right yet? ;) sweet!! :D
I'm new to Montreal as well. DO NOT DRIVE HERE, at least this summer. so much construction going on, it's very stressful. Plateau is nice, but more pricey (and dirty.. lots of tourists and partiers). It's a very fun city, put i miss the mountains of vancouver
He did make it in max, he's just doing the dents in ZBrush. On topic: The fan parts look very much like paper how they are right now. They are fairly resilient, being made to suffer a lot of stress, they probably wouldn't bend in such a way.
when somebody pays me to do work before i deliver the thing i make sure i stress test it in the same environment they'll be using. when i hire people for help, if they don't do that I consider it a mark against their professionalism.
So here are some shots from an environment diorama project I just finished! I modeled everything in Maya, textured in Substance Painter, and rendered UE4. Although stressful at times, this project was fun and definitely taught me a lot about the game art pipeline!
