I like gray best but I put grey in there somewhere incase anyone searched in the future :D Yeah it happens on vista and 7 but turning off aero doesn't seem to make a difference. DDS plugin version dosen't seem to matter.

depends on the image, really.... with b and w line art usually gif is a smaller compression with a higher fidelity. most limited pallete webpage elements benefit from this too...otherwise, jpg all the way. pngs are the forgotten wave of the 1996 future.
I have always envisioned a future universal language based on macros or symbols and an elimination of repetitive sylables and double letters, like double ls or two n in Glenn. Gheez I am sounding almost as weird as Vermilion now.

Thank you! I understand what you're saying and in the future I'll certainly be doing more 1:1 character and anatomy studies, but for this particular project I was aiming to create an original character and this referencing method is just what I came up with.
Make the ID map directly in max for now I think it's borked and there might not be some weird obscure thing to get substance to read the materials correctly ( it certainly reads there are material IDs on a high poly and assigns different colors to them in the ID bake)I say just get the ID from max in a few mins and move…
Hi @hanabirano I'll start doing the profile and 3/4 views in future for better potential feedback, for base meshes I'm using a male and female character already in ZBrush and just chopping the head off the body and dropping the subdivisions down to their lowest.
