This is rather nice. Interesting lighting bake from Turtle. I've seen photography with this kind of treatment before. There might be a bit too much bloom around the light sources. I know it's still a work in progress. As it is right now it feels very abandoned without anything in the storefronts, missing glass and doors.…
I'm saying the art is a large portion of the value in the game. There's an indie studio in Austin, Tiger Style, that didn't have the budget to pay their freelancers that well so they promised them royalties as well after the game shipped. After their first title was successful they started paying their freelancers better…
Its slowly getting there; keep up the progress and it looks promising. Forget about polypainting, and details right now and focus on form. go down to subdivison 1 and 2 and shape the face, smoothing out areas that are becoming clay/mud like - you obviously have noticed the blobbyness yourself. continue until you can see…
Thanks for your reply! I'm trying things to get the side views looking good as well, but I think everthing I do makes him feel flat and boring. Any critique or tips regarding that? I'm on vacation at the moment (left my laptop at home) but will continue my progress late august. Will try to get a nice looking enviroment for…
I heard a rumor that they killed the XSI off Softimage years ago cause some developer at Siggraph pronounced XSI as 'ecstasy'. As in 'I love XSI, we use it all the time. We continue to sell XSI.' ETC ETC. All I know is the XSI wasn't around much longer after and it was just Softimage. I tried finding a video of it but the…
I really appreciate the amount of time and thought spent on those tuts phil, your examples/tuts, and those done by a small amount of others shine through the overwhelming amount of poor quality stuff that unfortunately saturates the interweb out there. Cheers for the interview (almighty admin god) adam - and continue the…
Thank you Paololazatin for the feedback. I've taken heavy influence from the dota2 workshop guides and tried to incorporate that into my texturing process. Also texturing is my weakest area, so it's something that I still need to concentrate more on. I definitely did not want it to seem that I rushed it. I'll continue to…
Here's the first piece I handed in for my showreel project. It is a collection of dragon animations I worked on over the sumer of the Fall of Orloth project. I have since had feedback from my tutor and intend on improving it before the Christmas hand in and will continue posting improvements when made but any feedback…
Continuing on with the "Scarlett Foxx" character, this would be her leather bag. The goal is to create 2 meshes: one with higher textures and and a higher polygon count for cinematic renders and a version of that with slightly smaller textures and a lower poly count for real-time applications. Seen here are the finished…
I agree jeffro that you need some sort of lighting/shadows. The textures look great, and I like your style, but the scene is pretty hard to read as it is now. An idea to make it less flat would be to make an AO pass for the whole thing when you're done. Just make a new UV set and bake it all. :) I will continue to follow…
