Blend them in UDK? like, brick by brick? How large are these bricks? A lot of your sculpts look very .. soft. That doesn't really look like a brick - Try using some stencils / alphas to get some actual detail from textures in there.
Doug-Thanks! It made me crazy, cuz sometimes when I looked at it my eyes would like cross and I'd see everything backwards (going OUT rather than carved IN) haha! I'd look away and readjust before going back to work! =P Pioldes- Thanks!!! The yellow on the brick wall (labeled rock01)? I was going for "gold strips" =X maybe…
The sculpt of the lower bricks is quite working...i'm not sure if u planned to do this later, but i think you've got an issue with the pattern of your brick wall...usually the brick's raw are shifted by half of the brick lenght to make them a lot more stable...
HEY! So, I thought it would be a good idea to post my stuff in one thread instead of 100 different, so here it is: Snefers art dump! yay! Anyway, here is my current portfolio-page: http://www.torfrick.com Please let me know what you think. I suck at html, I just wanted something really basic to show off the art as quickly…
if you google image Roman Bricks then you can see they're very thin, like this, furthermore the bricks seem to have a strange shine to them, modern bricks are slightly shiny because the surface is somewhat smooth, the bricks you've made are rough and grainy so they wouldn't be shiny at all
I think you should use a texture and not model out the bricks, you can model some bricks and have them extrude from the ground like in the right hand side of the picture. Using POM would make the bricks stand out and its not necessary to model the bricks.
ACME Brick Designer http://www.acmebrick.com/md/index.htm Great little program for laying down a base image of bricks and then building up your texture from there after in PS. Possible to set amount of rows of bricks, change mortar colour and brick style. Some great little apps here people, cheers.
Here is an update on my progress. I selected this brick texture from texture heaven: https://texturehaven.com/tex/?c=bricks&t=red_brick_03 My module set is now mostly complete I applied the brick texture to the station. UV wrapping the brick on the station was tedious. I'm glad it's over!
1st pass on the bricks, needs work but I think its coming along.. the main thing is I've noticed, is that victorian brickwork is layered out differently (big brick little brick.) I may also need to up the contrast.. I will post my brick texture on its own later!
