Hi, Is the continous mesh any better than the split one? In case of my modular building, a split mesh has 25% less triangles. Dividing edges and then removing doubles also takes a lot of time. Are there any reasons to use a continous mesh? Just an example, not the real mesh:
That is indeed my repo. I use floating shelf all the time for my own projects. Unfortunately Maya had some incredibly breaking changes years ago and I stopped updating modular channel box. It was a long time ago so I don't recall much of the context. The repo is here though: https://github.com/Vaei/ModularChannelBox
Hi, TBH it sounds like you need a break to get away from the art production for a bit. I find a balance between playing games, reading and getting inspired with a decent amount of time dedicated to working is good. If you work all the time you do get burned out as you've mentioned. The breaks doing other things, even whole…
ZBrush is really starting to get on my nerves since I have to spend more time fixing it instead of learning it! :poly118: I am trying to make simple planes to have reference pictures on. When I offset the two planes to create space for the actual model, it looks fine at first but when I rotate the view it all glitches out…
I've rigged a simple chest so I could animate it opening, and for some reason it's getting pushed up in the Z direction upon import in UE4. It imports fine without the rig included. I've been at this all day, and have no idea what the cause is. I've tested the exported .FBX in other software, and it's fine. The issue is…
I am trying to figure out how to go about making large game assets like this, and more specifically how to texture them. I'm sure there are actually a lot of different ways to do this, but I'm trying to get a sense of best practices. Is this pyramid one asset, or an assemblage of blocks, each of which is unwrapped and…
Thanks for the welcome, and the response! :) Yeah I still have 3 years until I make my push into breaking in. I think maybe it's the fact that I'm doing a Game Design course, rather than a specific game art/game programming course that has me a bit unsure about things. Since we cover a broad range of subjects there is a…
Hi there polycounters ! I'm here again for a new problem which doesn't show clear and working answers on google .. ! So let my explain quickly ... I'm trying to get better at uving to maximize my texture surface (with Maya), so I want to understand how to mirror and how to overlay my shells nicely ... but in the process my…
