I've been wanting to get into animation lately. I was wondering where you guys get your animation referances and what you use. Physique vs. Skin ect... Also, is character studio a good route to go our not? I've been using character studio because its easy to setup a rig but sometimes I find it sort of limiting...
Judging by the title I assume OP is making a diorama as opposed to a full game/level: hence the unique assets. @Mistergilbertti59, I agree with @Kid.in.the.Dark the severe damage doesn't suit the brick structure at all and doesn't really make sense. It would be more suited to concrete. Especially on the lower crater,…
I'm kind of in the same boat: I started off thinking I wanted to be a 2D artist (an illustrator, in my case, not necessarily a concept artist), but then waffled between wanting to do that vs. going into 3D for videogames, on and off for years, never really getting anywhere with either. Recently I've doubled down on…
Materials look pretty good. One flaw that I can see is the seams where the flat plain on the side (of the drawer) meets the extruded part on the side. Or it might be that my eye is just tricking me. Anyhow, if it is the case of the seams, it is really easy to fix. If you are working in Blender you can easly fix them by…
Thanks for the feedback guys! refriedspinach - I'm working on pulling out some geo on the brick walls so that they don't look so flat and lifeless. The window modules will get some work as well. coots7 - I can show some stuff in a bit, I'm still tweaking and tuning. The snow blend is a slight variation of what Santewi…
yup looks good although on the wood and the bricks, looks like everything is beveled and not brick or wood just wood and brick that's been beveled to hell. good stuff though, and the bricks make a lovely tilable background for windows.. :D
That looks amazing! Although the big dome is made of glass instead of brick. And if you were to continue with brick I suggest you make all bricks the same size (note the smaller bricks on the smaller thing above the big dome).
these tricks are never necessarily good or bad in themselves, if you only ever bake that asset once and use whatever quick fixes are available that can be a huge time saver, when your not sure of that it can be worth (often in hindsight) to build the asset properly, this is something i know yet frequently get wrong...most…
You're bricks look unnatural and just saturated on top of a black/white brick pattern. Did you use a real brick pattern or make it by hand? Real looking bricks (cuz they are real) http://ftextures.com/textures/red-bricks.jpg
Hey, cool castle, and welcome to Polycount! - Roof tiles could use some grime. They're also a bit too reflective. They also feel really flat and are cut off at the edge of the roof. The castle seems to be older (moss/mold on the wall), but so many things look brand new (dock leading to the entrance, roofs, door). - The…
