Agree with cmtanko, 3Dmotive is absolutely fantastic. Beyond the freebies there, the $29 you pay for a month is well worth it considering how much UDK specific material there is on the site. 3DBuzz has a lot of free UDK training as well if you have other questions beyond mesh importing.

Which DXGI image format? There are tons. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb173059%28v=vs.85%29.aspx Anyhow I doubt there's a plugin for this. New DX formats keep being added each year it seems. Good luck though.
