It's just physically correct reflectance values for PBR materials. You can use them thru RMB on reflectance color of the any layer and its applied on all maps. In your case just take skin mat then set "Quick PBR", apply color id, mask, duplicate layer and set another reflectance value, mask, color id and so on. -

Yes, I also tried .png as well as .psd...unfortunately no dice. So far, the only way I've been able to see it is if I create a fill layer, mask it, and use the projection in the mask. Please give a fully detailed hardware specifications, "pretty decent" is not precise en enough. ;) -Can you give a bit more details about your project ? -How many layers do you have ? -You use a lot of effects ? Having a blur effects over a layer can result is bad performances while painting at the same time for example. -

Also, remember that just because his armour is green doesn't meant thats the only colour you'd see in it. Try using reds and blues in the metal to add to it. You can do this by painting the areas you'd like red/blue on a new layer in photoshop than setting it to multiply. Once done, fiddle with that new layers opacity… -

not the most experienced at this but IMO it largely comes down to your textures and shading. Your strands are too thick and shading could use anisotropic highlights.
