Hey everyone! We’re building DragonKill, a retro-style 2D MMORPG powered by Unity and the XRPL blockchain. The game is currently online during the second half of each month (from the 16th to the end) as part of its open beta phase. Our long-term goal is to launch full 24/7 live servers, and we’re looking for passionate…
On resolution-dependency, I recently saw this neat breakdown of the water shaders for Zelda Wind Waker, specifically how the Wii remaster ran into this problem (at 2:18) https://youtu.be/8NL9Cc05CYk?t=125
I do find it sad for the mod community that would like to spring up around this game. Its all baked out and flat. You cant go in and open up some big asset library and start making some new crazy maps with all new lighting and visual arrangement. If folks want to make any new maps then they have to start from scratch. I am…
The one thing college does help you with is making contacts local to the toronto game industry. This could grow into more professional working relationships in time. Make sure you know why you want to join the game industry. Do you want to do art, are you more about being a part of a company that makes games you love…
Ok thinned out the images, will thumbnail everything once I get setup over here. @ChaosEidolon We tried calling it a game, but attracted the wrong people, so now we call it a simulation. It attracts less CS / DOD players. We made a realistic HL2 mod to draw in the crowds. Indie games dont draw the publics attention like…
i think your site is excellent! It's tricky applying as a level designer as the job can be radically different from company to company. Some companies use level designers almost like junior artists while others will restrict and discourage any kind of "artyness" on their levels and make them create pure game play spaces…
The "buddy" idea sounds very isolated, just a thing between 2 people... a lot of people cant easily find a "buddy" because they dont know anyone well enough to commit to this buddy thing. It works between 2 friends who know eachother, or 2 good artists that highly respect eachothers works so in that sense it is kind of…
The UVing itself is great. I have no issues with Mayas UV tools, its just the packing I cant ever to get the results I want. It doesnt fill any empty spaces UV shells might have (like a tire with a hole in the middle for example) so there ends up being tons of wasted UV space. I just always seem to get a much better pack…
[rant] It's on a console so I will more than likely miss out on this one. I wasn't ragging on the game. I was commenting on how sad it is that I won't be able to play this one. Because I don't plan on buying a console right now becaue there are so few games, so few in supply, the cost is so much and the holidays are so…
I was lucky, in the sense that I am not in debt. A local community college was offering an Associates degree in Simulation and Game Development so I took it. This gave me a balance from paying hardly anything, but still getting a small foundation from which to build on. It also gave me the opportunity to see if this is…
