Some times ago I suddenly noticed how really good my assets and materials looked back at the time when it was simply Zbrush sculpt +vertex paint + a few subtle Photoshop touches . A workflow I abandoned around 2008. Zbrush forces you to make art decisions , to evaluate your every touch carefully . Super inconvenient micro…
I'm trying to bake my lightmaps using 3ds max. I have a pretty complex scene, about 150 objects. I unwrapped all of them with an automatic unwrapper , which i have set to channel 2. Now my question is how do i combine the resulting 150 lighmaps, fast and easy but more importantly HOW DO I GET THEM TO SHOW UP IN THE…
What you described is imo just most common way to work there. Nobody wastes time just for sake of potential scalability you may never need. If it's not a portfolio sport my guess.
Hello in my humble opinion and very little knowledge, there are plenty of photogrammetry tools. cleaning and retopology take time to make it useable but they are awesome for many use-cases. I'll love to see your tool in action hopefully it makes awesome AI-created models I like to use software that can solve pipeline…
You can merge skeletal meshes - i think it's c++ only but it's doable Merging the meshes makes no difference to draw call count if you're not also merging materials/textures. You can merge materials/atlas textures but that comes at a memory cost (unique set of materials/textures per character) - you can do this for…
"...I am considering Blender. Which one might give me the best results (I guess things to consider is support and resources in learning the programs so Blender seems appealing for my main 3d package)." I'd agree, indeed worth keeping in mind at least, it's "Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none" acknowledged philosophy would…
First i did a fast test with Automatic UVS in Maya and Substance. Both are doing a decent job for fast automatic uvs. Maya does have less distortion but a lot of small UV shells. If you use projections in Substance for painting this could be a solution. You would have to use UDIMs with parts not bigger that this upper leg.…
The key with fast motion is that you need to give the audience's eye something to focus on. If everything is moving all over the place at a fast speed it's just a jumble. You have two key poses, sitting and standing, but in between that is a little indecipherable. Usually the head is what we tend to focus on, so try to…
Fuck RPS, boy did they go downhill fast. They're turning into paparazzi like tabloid writers with some antagonistic agenda. That first question just sealed the deal on what I think of John Walker, what an asshole. As for Peter: The guy is always out too early and invests too much of himself emotionally in everything he…
