yeah word is just a word processor, not a layout or design app. Maybe openoffice or now also known as openLibre behaves better. InDesign is a dream for stuff like that, planting images and have text flow nicely around the images or a design grid. All magazines and commercial prints are done with either InDesign or Quark…
I hate this game... because it showed me that my PSU was dying and now I have a weekend where I can't play the game. :( :( The wait for a new PSU is going to be a pain, I loved the little I actually got to play, and the good old style of health. And the level layout feels more fun.
I talk about this pretty extensively in my Cascade Beginner's Guide on 3dmotive. It's in volume 2, chapters 13 & 14. https://www.3dmotive.com/f104301 There are lots of different approaches, but in the video I talk about how to use After Effects to layout a flipbook from some stock fire footage. Hope this helps!
I'd like to put my critic but can't since I don't have any relevant professional background however I really like it. Both the layout and the work. I'm not too much a fan of the female model at the bottom though, it needs a bit more work but the rest is great in terms of stylized character.:D
If you want a pretty easy to use UV editor, download and install thus plugin https://www.highend3d.com/maya/script/nightshade-uv-editor-for-maya I like it a lot. Has layout and other frequently ussed editing tools in easy access. Also makes dealing with UV set editing much easier.
Made the layout more of a larger T shape and created an fancy iron bracket, will add an ornate stair case at the end and buildup the wall facing it. Reverted back to just the Occlusion and Normal maps was getting ahead of myself a little bit with the texturing. Got some time to work on this today so more updates ahoi!
Your skull textures look a bit too blurry and blobby on the skull for how sharp they are around the horns, can we see your texture map? Either you need to work more detail into the texture, or spend more time maximizing your uv layout. Good work so far, bring that into the scene!
Sculpted up the Mountain peak. For this i really wanted to go with a nice clean base sculpt and let a detail normal take care of most of the surface noise. Also added pic of throne room changed the layout of a few of the walls, and reworked the dome with a much bigger oculus, and design in the center for a nice cast shadow.
Try doing a realistic character, there's more jobs for those. Stylized is great but that alone limits your opportunities. Your folio layout is fine, everything on one page :) Not too keen on the 2d but it may be nice to know for some. Apply EVERYWHERE, don't limit yourself. Relocation is part of the game art territory. gud…
I have a script i use which snapshots seperate meshes onto one wireframe layout. Its not ideal but it helps save time (for me at least) If you want I can probably make it available to you. (if you can get max '08 that would probably serve you better though)
