Mhm, okay, but I always had horrible edges on the bake whenever I didn't have the same smoothing group covering both sides of the edge. I mean, my method is usually to use a Smooth by UV script that puts a smoothing group for each uv isle. I also usually always unwrap so I can avoid direct seams where I want a nice clean…
Yeah i mean i call them Smoothing grps but as a long time maya user too i mean the softness and hardness of the edges. In Maya is really that simple. That said i cannot preserve tje edge quality, even tried presets, and even simply exporting and reimporting in max i loose the edges quality i get an entirely soft mesh Don't…
Yeah indeed. You were right, it also selects longest edges, rotate all shells indepedently and center shells and way faster than my own script. Didn't remember it has all that last time i've installed it as i remember doing the suggestions. I still like my behavior where the longest edge is only searched in the outline…
Loving the textures, you've nailed the wood I feel. Hmm the floor looks pretty flat to me at the moment, don't know if your going to be normal mapping it or not as that would really help. Otherwise, you could add some protruding bricks in places to give it some depth. Some of the 90 degree edges on the stone such as the…
Naw that not it. Everyone here at work has the same issue, but they don’t do much UVunwraping so they don’t mind the change. Let’s say I have an object that is an editable poly. I open that editable poly and select a few edges, I then press Alt+Scroll wheel and rotate the viewport camera. The viewport camera pivots around…
Ok here's tweaking to the character sheet. Top left view is in Maya's "smooth view" mode. The rest is low poly edge smoothing. Though I also have a question. Maya's edge smoothing isn't smooth smooth. I don't want to apply smoothing as it sends the poly's high. Is there any tips on smoothing these lines out within Maya?…
Thanks for the references, Eric! One can definitely work on the welds more but I was mainly just forced on getting a good base. The brushes a lot of people use won't work too well in certain situations eg. grooves, crevices, edges, etc.
Never actually messed with that "UV smooth" settings in SubD, so gonna check that for future projects. Also that "modified edges" is good tip. I applied SubD on low-poly and see that seams are not on "sharp" edge, where I assumed it would be (according to my low poly UV unwrap), but that SUB-d stretched it. Now I fixed it…
What you are asking is quad re-mesher. As far as i know Blender doesn't have it same good as in Zbrush, 3d max or Houdiny. Same as in Zbrush one is having been sold as an inexpensive addon for Blender with a free trial. Neighter of them are good enough to make clean cutting edge of a blade for example. You can try nodes of…
Hello Guys, I am working on my hard surface model with the work flow of quad chamfer and Turbo smooth and I noticed that one of the edges even though it is set as a hard edge after the turbo smooth and the chamfer seems to get distorted. Please have a look at the pictures below, I have tried everything I knew that could…
