It is looking nice so far! I am trying to do an environment inspired by the same concept too hehe. It seems that you are going for a more stylized look. Good luck! I'd love to see your progress.
Really looking forward to seeing this progress! Some nice materials you got going. I can't help but feel that the barrels are a little bit too "egg" shaped, unless you're going for a bit of a stylized touch.
So I decided that I hated the background, but for some reason I cannot understand how to model stylized rocks, but here is my second attempt. I am hoping I can make it work by painting it
@Nicodemaus I think you're jumping into details too soon and missing some key forms because of it. What sticks out most to me is the shape of the folds, they are far more angular and stylized in the concept and greatly simplified.
Because I used to non-PBR workflow and this environment has stylized look - for this UDK fits pretty well. I made some things in UE4 and of course eventually switch completely, but for now I stick with UDK.
@3dcaster I have really only just started to use them for stylized stuff, however this artists seems to have done it with PBR materials. Def check out his portfolio, https://www.artstation.com/artwork/86vOw
Nice to see our students work being featured on "80.lv", also nice when students really go for it with their final major project. https://80.lv/articles/simple-stylized-environment-scale-and-mood/
im not sure what ref your using for the radio but its looking a little to stylized being very soft with very large knobs. in fact if you hadnt said it was a radio I would have never guessed.
I think you make a good start, your basemesh looks really solid :) Maybe you give his totso a little more volume, otherwise he looks to flat, but on the other hand is this a stylized model.
I would have to agree. I would just double check your anatomy. Try to get that down and then move on to stylized. To me it looks like you rushed to sculpting portion and just moved on quickly to the smoothing.
