I've created a character with a leather hood made of scraps stitched together. I want to use Substance Painter to add the stitches, but I'm running into problems. I painted the stitches as Height detail on a new layer, but the new height detail I paint is blending with all of the existing height detail beneath it. What I…
Hey, I'm wondering if anyone can help me; I'm sure I can't be the first person to run into this. The skin detailing on my ZBrush model is getting distorted when I bring it into to other programs. Looking at the topology I'm guessing it might be to do with how the mesh is being triangulated in different directions. Here are…
Yesterday i did some tweaks to everything, i realize that the point of the blade normals were messed up(i think that might be the "baking issues" that Zetheros mentioned), and i'm really more satisfied with what i got now, isn't 100% how i would like but i decided to move on, textures are looking less dull now and some…
I'm not going to pretend to sound like an expert since I'm pretty new to this stuff myself, but my limited understanding of it is that luminance seems to be very much related to "brightness". The problem is that brightness on your monitor, say if you use your monitor's options and set it to "90" - that isn't going to be…
: shrugs : Bill Gate != Microsoft. He might be the chairman but if the companies direction was 100% up to him there would be no X-Box, no Mactopia, no Microsoft Game Studios, etc. He was a clever businessman in the the 80s, but now he's like the previous Nintendo CEO. A dinosaur unwilling to change his ways and views of…
i think the good thing about patience is that each part of the design will feel fleshed out, so instead of looking at the project you start as i have to get it all done every-day. Look at it as i have to get this clothing to look right, that is how i get and or got by with the scylla "goal", i still have yet to pose and…
For some reason I can't get my Dom War gloss and glow maps to render in max (standard material). Both are enabled, both set to 100. I can turn my diffuse/normal/spec maps on and off and see that this changes the render, but gloss and glow are doing nothing. I can see the material editor switch from m to M in the Self…
Hey y'all, I'm using UTportals to do an impossible-space level, and I'm trying to get the transition through the portal to be as invisible as possible. I've got the spatial transition to be seamless, but I'm running into a couple problems with what the player sees before stepping through. I have a floodlight with a heavy…
@Veer_P An interesting shape, they're typically fiddly to model in polygonal subd that are usually fabricated using an extruded die cast mould' and also CAD designed, hence indeed a challenge so my approach would be as if modeling a car body shell of some sort with a Shrinkwrap Modifier. Because there's a similarity in…
Problems Solved. I ended up using a beveled Low Poly Cube with Support Loops to create even normals on the flat surfaces. Turns out I had one setting wrong in my Maya Transfer Maps tool. I had it set to "Surface Normals" Now I'm just wondering if I am stuck with the support loops causing extra geometry on my low poly cube.…
