It's where the vertices really are. You're just previewing in dynamic subdiv mode. You want the divide button in the section at the top if you really want to subdivide the mesh.
try the Reconstruct subdiv button under the Geometry tab.. Or turn on dynamesh, make the scale lower than 1.0, resolution at 64 and swipe the screen to have it calculate.
No no, there are a lot of people that use the banner as a giant "home button". If you want to get to the artist profile you can click the link to the art, then click their name in the thread.

I haven't used it for a while but I think this tool has a function to export UV shells as paths to photoshop. The "Save Photoshop Path" button should do it.

Do you plan on making this high poly? If this is supposed to be a video game model, a lot of the geo will need to be reduced: the crack down the center of the ball and the button specifically.
