Oh, people use math for this? :dizzy: After step 3, I simply add the bend modifier, go into orthographic top view, and move the bend pivot so it looks right. Possibly adding a 2x2 FFD as well to snap it to grid. -

maybe i'm missing something obvious, but nothing is working. gets to "Converting OK", which i'm assuming is the last step, but nothing on screen (just solid blue on top). i've tried numerous models, including the good files linked earlier. -

Looks actually really comfortable with the button at the top side and all, but it feels like a step backwards. I remember that in phantom hourglass you had to close the ds to stamp the map. will the sleep switch do the same? just hope nintendo can make money off of it. -

Hi there, nice start JadeEyePanda is right, you need to give it a bit of a kicking. For example the planks on the bottom walkway all have the exact same curve wich looks a little odd. Also thoses steps go strait into a barrier, you need a landing at the top ^^ -

Are you looking for work as an environmental concept artist or a level designer? Or as a modeler/texture artist? While your steps might be a good excercise, you might be spreading yourself a little thin and exposing yourself for criticism with all of the steps that you are planning. I have watched a ton of tutorials or read a bunch over my time so far. Over that entire time I have never copied any part of the tutorials. The reason for that is as Racer said before it doesn't help you learn. It teaches you how to copy what someone else did. To truly learn you must study the techniques done by the author… -

Good advice Ben, but my question was more specific to the nature of photoshop and the actual software tricks used to do it. If the wood is already in place, what steps would you take to overlay paint on top of it so that it looks like it has been painted? -
