This is not an app problem. So keep baking in 3dsmax if you want to. Like Michael said your normal is inverted and your texture map is way to low resolution. So flip the green channel of the normal map and give a higher resolution texture for the normal map to fix the issues.
Hi evryone i'm an old 3dsmax and zbrush user and i don't find my way to make a lowpoly detailed from a hight poly i want to know the real pipeline, and a littel video for dowing a littel asset like the assets in dota2 it will be great. thanks for all
Thanks for the crit Jessica! So far what I like about Z-brush is that it makes it fairly easy to edit. So I will definitely try to give this guy a little more love. I am trying to block out the Lost character in 3dsMax right now.
Hello RealityFix, Yes, we have plans to integrate PixaFlux on game engines and 3D applications like 3dsmax or Maya, but these are long-term plans. In the near future we'll focus on providing more compositing tools and nodes, and simplifying the current workflow. Thank you for your interest!
Thanks for the reply. I am not that familiar with Mental ray (I use Vray most of the time). When you say 2.2 Gamma you mean that you use the linear workflow, so your textures are gamma corrected too? Are they gamma corrected in Photoshop or later in 3Dsmax.
I really do not understand if I bring to lowest resolution level the circlet mesh I am making then generate the normal maps the come out somehow messed but if I export the low res mesh and import in 3dsmax the uvs are fine ... What's wrong with my model :(
Yea I think they changed the default light setup from 1 to 2 and Gama/LUT to on in 2012. If you get it set how you want in a default scene and save that scene as maxstart.max to your 3dsmax/scenes folder it will load each time you start max.
Try delete the folder for your max in here, it might reset it. I had an issue where max didn't load anymore, deleted that folder, and it started to work again. You lose all your settings though. C:\Users\Cody\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax
Ahhh the joys of skinning in 3dsmax... 1) Have you tried removing the bone from the skin modifier and adding it again? That will rebuild the envelope. 2) You can grab the end points of the envelopes and move them. That will be incredibly annoying but hopefully you will only need to do it once.
Made this basic helm so far. Moslty done with 3dsmax and a little bit of Zbrush. Made the front of his helm flat so i can easily add a filter with geometry, sculpt or paint. I'm going to add a flashlight holder to the side of his helmet next.
