Wierd lighting in 3ds max 2012 render window

Hey guys, I've just started using 3ds max 2012 and I've noticed that my renders look different in the render production window. It seems as if max is trying to fake some lightsource and is baking a permanent shadow on one side of my object no matter how I turn it. Is there a way to turn this off, make the render settings more like how it is is max 2011? I'm gonna put my object in udk anyway, but this is just annoying me haha. I've tried to change some options in the render settings window, but i'm not really finding the solution. It's probably something simple :P
