It's easier for us to comment if you host the images somewhere and post image links to them. Medieval towns (at least European ones) were rarely made from brick. They were usually plaster over wooden slats.
Ok, so I got the material wrong already, which is not good :) In that screenshot it does look like red plaster to be honest. Stronger fabric pattern that flows in a different direction should help. Here a crude paintover
looks great, i would add some height map grunge between the briks and on the briks some subtle height/normal of rock for break the tilling look also on plaster texture to make it feeling very rough
Looking at the pictures I should probably make a tile with only bricks and plaster to break up the houses, there is a lot of windows. Maybe make some simple antennas, pipes, ventilation boxes on the roofes etc to break it up a bit. Any ideas on how to improve the scene?
Pang: You're jumping into texture waayy too early. IMO, that model still looks nothing like Zach Quinto, even with his face photo plastered on it, which is a bad sign. I think you need to sculpt until it looks recognizable. Then work on the texture.
This is already better, yeah. I'd like to see the grime more follow the shapes of the object (smudgier on the raised areas where it'd be wiped off, instead of just plastered on top as an overlay), and more variation in tone on the yellow. Less saturation where it's gotten grimey, etc.
Getting into UDK I've seen the promo plastered everywhere on the official site, which it absolutely deserves to be. Hope the game gets the funding it deserves--Goober is just oozing character and the whole package is really well presented. Kudos, and hope you guys keep posting on polycount :)
Yeah the chimney does look odd still, I think its because of the type of foundation in its on. I tried to look for reference for plaster covered chimneys, but they still reside on the wood planks. At least that's how it looks in the reference.
This is a continuation of my polycount tower scene: https://labs.sketchfab.com/tower/#model/05da120523794f979f7ff8edc5f886ea My goal here is to take the enemy ship from Aero Blasters and do a full PBR texture job for my portfolio. I'm aiming to make this the best material work I can make it, so any and all critique is…
