Hey everyone...after a great weekend, i am looking to share some more progress on Slash. I am still trying to get the skin nice and dirty with mostly ash and more dirt. May end up going back to ZB to tweak a few things. I am kind of stuck at the moment with trying to get a proper hair solution for the loincloth and scarf…
The tape around the gun, and the area immediately around the tape stands out against how weathered the rest of the gun is. If you've got tape on anything, if it's moved or touched over time, such as drawing and holstering the revolver, you're going to see a certain kind of wear on the tape. Some edges of the tape will be…
It's ok to do some dirt/scratching on guns, but do it very subtle. People usually take care of there guns, so they don't get extremely dirty or beat up. But I've found that doing very subtle stuff with a nice spec is alot more interesting/visually appealing. like EricV said, it looks like a bomb went off near it or…
@ Dethling - Looking at the kitchen references, the actual kitchen wasn't that dirty, it was just really used and cluttered. Molly's character seems to be quite house proud, so I felt dirt and grime wouldn't fit nice. But I agree on needing more banged up objects. @ Holly Mellor - thank you, you've been very supportive…
The modelling is awesome, the texturing is really bad. If thats a 2048 texture then either its a bad render or your UVs must be poor as you're getting very bad resolution. Your metal doesent really look like metal, and there is no evidence of any wear or tear, or even any dirt in corners or mud up the side. I would watch…
Update on the texture. Think it looks a lot better with the hard edges on the mud. Decided to cover his hands completely, it didn't make sense to have his fingers, thumb and wrist covered in mud but not the rest of his hand. Added som soft soot and dirt patches around his lower region. Having to constanly sit on the dirty…
From the "first full UDK enviro" side I like it quite a bit. It looks like you know exactly what your doing! I more have a comment on the artistic side. I feel like the walls need to be dirtied up some. Throw some mud or dirt on the areas closest to the plants, and rust where the water is. They read as metal walls to me,…
@Medvish regarding Your questions: *correct *the textures are neutral and colorized in the shader *correct But It's a bit more complicated :) ATM UE4 does not support texture arrays but that feature developed and currently under review. https://github.com/EpicGames/UnrealEngine/pull/2340 You could do it without the array…
I would make a separate texture for the glass and set that to refractive (Transmission: Refraction in TB4). If using raster rendering, make sure both lenses are separate objects so they sort correctly when looking down the scope. I would give it some subtle variation with some light scratches and such in the…
This has got a lot of love already but I totally dig it still :) I'd like to see a few fresh scratches in the bottom area with a hot spec response compared to the duller dirty/rusty/tarnished metal, and I think you might benefit from maybe cracking one of the windows a bit just to break them up a little - a small crack…
