How did I know those tools were doing some weird things happen with the tools? Whelp, gonna have to try the collapse method which works good for some instances but sometimes I just need to manually collapse edges on my own in different areas that don't have edge rings.
Model it with subdivision surfaces being careful with your topology so that it's easy to simplify later if you need to. Then, when the cage for your highpoly is done, simplify it as needed and bake things down. Any software that lets you collapse an edge ring, delete an edge loop, and weld two points together will work…
I love your style Optinium ! ( You've done Raziel man, RAZIEL!!! ) The "demon'' is amazing :D There is only one thing that I think can make him cooler imo : The ring around his feets can be can be red/orange like heated metal , if we assume the glowing part are hot!
Man, just being able to pan/rotate while creating splines will be mega helpful. Double click edge loop selection will be useful although I hope they add something for ring selection too. This stuff all looks cool but I couldn't help but thinking the entire time, "WHY WASN'T IT THIS WAY TO BEGIN WITH?!" :)
I agree with MoP this is most likely a pre-release issue. I would wait anyway. It's now instinctive to avoid anything immediately coming from Microsoft. They can't be trusted. I wait for all the early birds to get the red rings. "Meanwhile, my Vista machines work perfectly." HAHAHAHA XD *cries*
Yarrr Mate... Good start but I saw this last night when you showed it to me. Don't forget his big jug of rum, a golden nipple ring, a bad ass sword. and you could always modify him into that other character we talked about. Just change his props a little...

We are only the second graduating class of Ringling's Game Art program; our education has focused mainly on 3d/2d art; character, environment, concept, as well as some random classes in game design and programming. Most tend to lean towards Environment Art. We are required to make a Thesis which is a game trailer... (imho…
Since last week, I’ve been mostly working on blocking out
the body and testing out 3D Modelling techniques in ZBrush to achieve the rings
around the arms and legs. Currently, I’m trying to make the proportions of the
sculpt more accurate to the Martian characters, and over the next week I will
be refining the spacesuit.
Honestly it's kind of a boring piece. If you're going to make a portal, try recreating ones in existing films or games (such as in Stargate or the particle-heavy ring at the end of the UE5 demo). And don't be afraid to use a lot of polygons to make the shape well rounded, game engines aren't really polygon constrained…
