oooo lightshafts. :D everything is looking good so far.. except the leaves on the floor seem a bit too.. lit. seems as tho they should be darker. and speaking of seams (different kind but hey thats ok) you've got some lightmap seams going on with your wall mesh there in the most recent shot.
Very cool. Lovely helmet and binocluar gears. The environment scene is very well light and detailed, except when I look at the chair, I can see that same wrinkles repeated over and over, which makes it visible when it's sticking out a lot. Lower the bumpiness in that area, and it'll look better.
+ to slipgatecentral' question. plus about dimesions... 6 meters in height - may we double it, so it will be 12? For example,if i wand to make a rock.... or 6 meters is my maximum? A. The dimensions of the template, which you download from http://www.sketchfab.com/tower, are what you have to work with. Right now there are…
The alpha is in the diffuse and doesn't look like that at all. I mean, it's basically all white except the little black rectangle surrounding the needle, because that's basically the only thing that is on a plane. Anyway, sent an email to Marmoset about that. In the meantime, I finally got around making something somewhat…
Unsung heroes the sound guys??? Nah...it's the tech artists dude. Followed by the sys admin/hardware installer & upgrade guys/gals. Even the sound guys work are in the frontlines in terms of player experience. Nobody will deep check the end credits lists for the tech artists and sys admin crew (except maybe, headhunters).
I would never worry about the location of a student when applying (except when outside of the country). That studio might be opening a new studio somewhere else, or they might give you an amazing relocation bonus, or you might found out you like the city and area more than you expected.
If you're using turbosmooth just up the iteration to 3-4. I tried to think of how you could avoid a star vertices but I can't think of anything right now except major re-haul on your mesh. So I'm thinking you should just boost the iteration up. :)
It's a bit like being a game artist, except with code. You should easily be able to write some super simple code much like you're able to pull around boxes in your 3d program, but to get around stuff you just have to use brute force, practice every day.
Okay, maybe not leaves from leaf clouds ;) But glowing dust particles? The scene looks very static except for the waterfall which makes these two parts look independent from each other. If you would have something else moving around in the rest of the scene I guess it would be more coherent.
If you use latest Maya versions...did you try Curve Warp? It can do everything as flow in Moi3D...except that projection on the sphere thing. You can just convert edges of your object to curve and then just use Curve Warp to make your objects deform or flow along the curve.
