I have always disliked trackball myself, but now that I have forced myself to use it for a week, I am already starting to like it over the contrained rotations. Thanks for they hotkey tips!
@JordanDaushvili There's a few thing that can cause this baking error. Since the mesh already has hard edges, UV splits and UV padding then it's probably a ray miss caused by the bake settings. If you're using Blender to bake normals with edge splits: you'll need to enable the cage offset in the Selected to Active settings…
@Ashervisalis Wow, thanks so much for all the feedback! As for the house, no worries, the material of either layer can be changed on the fly. I will also make it so that the UV scale can also be changed so I can customize the size of the bricks. And then ofc I'd refrain from using bricks on beveled edges, or alternatively…
Curve editor is a tool you will need to use a lot, I don't care what the posters above say :) It's something you'll want to just leave open on the 2nd screen or down below whenever you're past the blocking stage. Like Slipsius said above it is not a tool you animate "in", you animate in the viewport, but you will also end…
Riding the Jet-Bikes In this scene I just had to adapt the jet movements to the camera view, but I wanted to give an extra touch and used the same trick to force the pilot hands to reach dummy boxes linked to the edges of the steering wheels. So, when moving the steering wheel, the character limbs were following that…

I just spent some time adding various keyboard shortcuts to the expresskeys and also to my handy little NuLook - a little logitech device that somehow acts as an extra scroll wheel and button pad. However I was wondering if something like the…
Hi guys, Just started to play about with using displacement maps in UDK and have come up against a few problems, I've checked out a few guides on how to create Displacement maps and how to make use of Tessellation but have come up against an issue that I'm not too sure how to fix. seeing as this is an early art test I…
Hey guys, thought that I would give it a shot to post a thread regarding my current WIP for a flaming tornado spell in UE4. I'm shooting for Riot/Blizzard kind of approach, so I will be avoiding UV distortion and attempt to hand paint my textures. I'm looking to improve on my skills as I am a new FX artist myself. I…
Here is my latest update. I made a detailed blog post where I summarized all the things I learned in creating this scene. You can find it here: The Gabmeister Blog #3 - Sector 1, a sci-fi passage in Unreal Engine I spent a significant amount of time playing around with fog settings until I got something that made the scene…
