hehe, i know, but they NECs are very expensive as you said :D The hp lp2475w is around 550 euros, and the 24"-25,5" Necs around 1100 euros. Almost the double :D .
This was done for the Stainless Steel Art test. 550-600 tri(mine just hit 600) model for a RTS, with a 512 texture map. Heres what i turned in. Kinda late for C&C, but thought i would share since this is just my 2nd post here.
Inno 3D GTX 295 single PCB. Never overclocked. Used in my main workstation. Runs perfect. No problems at all, just upgrading to a 580. Manf Page. $230 shipped from Japan. PM or post with questions.

So going ahead and taking my own advice, I've started planning my pieces a lot more. Research Dota 2 Characters After finding a character that inspired me, I hpped in game with him, checked out his animations, spells and VO to get more of a feeling for him. From there I read his little paragraph of lore for more…
Looking at Newegg, it seems that the 8800gt is no longer around. It also looks like the motherboard I have tops out at 4gigs of memory. I read a glowing review of a gtx 550 somewhere. Any thoughts on that vs a gts model that would be 30 bucks cheaper?
I bought it for $500-550 at version 3.1, it's a full commercial license and every update has been free so far. That's probably the best deal I've gotten out of any commercial package.
I'm using a much older card (550 something I think) and I right now working on a model with about 1.2mil polies and 15 3kx3k textures and it works fine with AA and AO turned on.
Need to change my 6 years old PC also. Was looking at the same stuff that Minos posted. Tho I don't think you'll need that huge 850 power suply. 650 will be enough
