Re: UDK - Workflow scale issue
I just scale everything up when I export. Not manually, but though one of the options in the export dialogue. In Blender, the scale is 1 UU = 1 Blender unit, and 16 UU = ~1 foot. So in Blender I model as if 1 Blender unit = 1 foot, and just set the 'Scale' parameter in the export dialogue to 16. -

You might want to stick to generic units (centimeters) and use power of 2 values such as (32,64,128,256,512 etc). In order to sync your power 2 grid from 3dsmax or maya with CE3, you'll need to use a custom grid in CE3. 16 units = 16 centimeters This should make things easier texturing wise and modeling wise. -
Buying the best laptop to use 3ds Max
So im looking at the macbook pro 17" with 16 gb of memory. but I was thinking of getting the imac 27" but gave it up because i would love the portability of a laptop. Just wondering how many polys a macbook pro with 16 gb memory be able to handle? my old imac can barely handle 1 million polys with 2gbs, any recommendations? -

I bought an ultrawide with the thought of consolidation of my two 24" 16x10's... it didn't last long due to the aspect ratio of my apps when snapping. I ended up with a 24" 4k on the side. If apps could better remember positions, I would maybe go to a single UW. Another thing is that there aren't any tablets that are in UW… -

old intuos 3 4x6 fits exactly to an eee 701 screen which is esentially a 7" 16:9 screen so an 16:9 7" usb screen does the job really well (+ no controller board needed) disassemble the screen put on intuos fix with tape, put acryl plate on it gives a budged ugly cintiq for somewhat 200 bucks -
Best Image Type for TIF? (for print)
Hi guys, I'm trying to get something color-printed as a TIF so that I can keep all the image information. In the image control box, I have several options for "Image Type": 8-bit color, 16-bit color, 16 bit SGI LogL, 32-bit SGI LogLUV. Which is the best? And there is a checkbox for store Alpha Channel. What is that? -

Thanks for replies guys, I'll try build more geometry on LP model and bake normal without the nail then i'll bake the nail invidiually and use photoshop to put it on the right place. I dont understand the part Neox said : bake with 16 bit, i'm using Xnormal for baking but there is no setting for 16 bit . Can you explain… -

Noise is expected, it's a matter of bit-depth precision. 8-bit files can't store the full precision, so you get blocky stair step artifacts, or noise. You can bake tiff in xnormal for 16 bit, but most game engines don't support 16 bit so you will need to convert to 8 bit anyway. -
