Hey guys, I'm getting to some tutorials I promised I would make today. Here is the first one: It's a beginners Macro Script tutorial aimed at teaching people to record actions in 3ds max and then create shortcut buttons or hotkeys for these actions. I'm sure many of you are familiar with how to do this in Photoshop. This…
I have an opportunity to leave an alright-paying job as a CGI artist (advertising stills) for an equally alright-paying job in the gaming industry as a 3D artist. What do you guys think, where do you have a bigger chance to develop your skills, or get more exposure? In advertising there are more parts: an agency that comes…
I'm using the 3D Motive Bipedal rigging tutorial. I did a rough skinning pass on the left side of the model, but when I switched from FK to IK on the leg, the foot joint twists. Posing the IK leg deforms the model badly and the knee doesn't follow the pole vector like it should. I followed the tutorial step by step and…
I am accustomed to use custom and often parallel or perfectly radial on cylindrical forms vertex normals and transfer them to lods . That way it works independent of any topology and through several lod levels usually . Support lops and bevels don't survive through lods very well . Also I often transfer /use same UVs on…
So it's not just about being able to lift yourself up over the requirements bar, you need to bring something that other people aren't and you need to add to their overall skill set, not just plug into it and becoming a smooth unremarkable part of the wall. If they say "you need to be able to do a chin up" you show up with…
Struggled to find a nice easy to use Maya to Unreal Vertex Animated Texture tool, so I ended up making my own. Thought I'd share with the community here, so that anyone can use/improve it further for their own uses. It produces a both a normal map (World Space) and position map (local space - position map relative to the…
Have anyone managed to do something like that? With halo distance variable by noise input? It's perhaps could be possible with loop node or slope blur approach with more steps but I wonder if there might be a simple quick solution for this ?
1) A mp7 seems overly ambitious. I would start out smaller, go for a knife or a simple tool. It is much less likely to end in frustration. It will also lay the ground work and workfllows for modeling a mp7, later. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9wgKy-F1Rw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pC9MdCg1k1A 2) You don't need to…
Thanks for this list! Nice! It looks like a solid way start, so I'll see for myself by next month :D Thanks so much for breaking it down step by step! I think my biggest flaw is sculpting/drawing skills, I have basic knowledge about the tools/technical pipeline cause I've been joking around with some of the software needed…
I really don't think its rendering "all that much more stuff". It seems like its the same as cranking up the FOV? Which normally doesn't effect what is being rendered or the frame rate. Engines don't always actively check and cull objects that you aren't directly looking at, maybe with some things, but too much checking…
