Hi, my first post:) I am wondering what is involved in being a lighting artist? I see this job sometime and wonder if you must be very qualified. It's more like in the category of a layout artist where not much specialization/experience is necessary? Thank you very much for any replies!!!:)
Hey everybody, I'm in the process of looking for work and could use a few more eyes on my portfolio. Critiques are appreciated. http://jeremyamiller.wordpress.com/ Thanks to Rick Stirling for his portfolio site thread. and Snowfly in the same thread who's site layout I sort of (completely?) stole.
I also had to change the UV unwrap layout because there was a baking error on the back of the axe. I suppose next time, I'll think about how I can straighten more UV islands.
Update Made and textured some modular tracks. Been playing around with layout in UE4, with some atmospheric fog effects. Obviously just skeletal at this point. I still have to make rocks, plants etc.
There was quite a few different landscapes that i toyed with. Especially due to the texture layout of the mp9 not wanting what i did to be possible with 100% accuracy. This was the latest landscape that was made, but it ended up not looking that nice on the weapon.
started the unwrapping process and did a quick normal map test , never modelled a vehicle before so i need to research the best way to bake maps and how to layout UV's this was just a head test
The scene layout and object placement actually isn't that bad. When you look at the individual assets though it lacks the polish that is needed. As others have said it may be too big of a stretch for a single portfolio piece.
After a small break, the blog is back again with new layout, and this time also accepting submissions from uninvited people, enjoy :} btw, the adress is changed to www.speedspot.org although the beta adress above is still working
Hey, tell me what you think about this new website layout. My friend recommended it to me. The content is still the same, I'm just working on the overall site right now. http://cynicalart.wordpress.com
was just about to link the same thing @throttlekitty but I wasnt quick enough apparently =P It really is a must read! Basicly Mesh normals and UV seams/layout is super important to good normal maps.
