Nice work so far. You have a cloudy sky, so the shadows can't be sharp. Right now it looks like there's a spotlight floating close above, which is not very real. I think pumping up the light sources' radius would help a bit. Also the tent feels a bit small. keep it up)
If you've ever worked on a 27" Apple the experience is pretty horrible because of the gloss. Kind of weird staring back at your reflection while you paint/game/watch movies, unless you work in total darkness. I read there are matte versions of these thing floating around (from different manufacturers) but haven't spotted…
"First up is Dragonflies, which Bleszinski describes as “ninja/samurai in airships riding dragons fighting zombies with friends in a PVE “feudalpunk” setting on floating islands.” That idea seems somewhat original. I wonder why they didn't gamble with that instead they went with Overwatch clone gamble and when that did not…
[ame=" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJcoEO3Num8"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJcoEO3Num8[/ame] Super rushed video, had to submit it on time cause deadlines. Lighting build was preview and lots of floating geo's. WIP Redoing my base and the sidewalk and need to make the wood a bit more realistic and positioning of…
Advice: Don't crop out any part of your model when you put it into your portfolio. By the way, I noticed between your first two images the right arm shield that was covered by the chain link went missing. You should add that back in. Without it the rings just float over his arm.
somehow the chairs look like floating in that carpet... some shadows could help maybe some more ligthts inside? also i would change the perspective a little, my first impression was that the room ends at the left side and then i wondered how strange that painting looks :D but there seems to be plenty of room left on the…
If you're never gonna see it, delete it (unless you want to keep a hard edge) don't be afraid to float geometry inside other geometry, don't worry about connecting everything into one mesh in a contiguous piece of geometry. I'm a sucker for anything textured from wood, so I really like it, very good prop :) .
I think you should definitely float some of the little details (holes and screws...for example the holes on the front edge of the magazine...come on...) instead of modeling them into the main body...you could avoid lots of the smoothing errors you got in there and also keep the polycount lower for fluid FPS in your…
Update! Got the high poly done. I tried to not use floating geometry as much as possible, just to get better at high poly modeling. I also modeled in the diamond patterns because I didn't want to rely on nDo for all the micro-details. Low poly coming soon! Crits, feedback, high-fives are welcomed!
m4dcow That'd be great if you share a better way to do this. I bake textures inside Zbrush using the canvas and a low poly pre-made plane that is floating behind that green area. For some reason I still have to deal with edge seams that I fix later in PS and this is the extra step I'd like to avoid.
