Hey! I'm working on my portfolio project which is low poly VW T1 game asset and would like to get feedback about textures. The idea is that car is used in post apocalyptic world and final render I'll make in desert scene. There will be props in baggage hold and on the roof top, I'll add them later. Quickly rendered in…
I hope this update will follow soon, since this is an absolutely essential feature. Without a color picker, texturing - especially probably hand painted textures - does not make much sense at all. You need to be able to match colors of a concept quickly, and while painting pick colors from other areas of the model.
here is a thread where people who just got their first job post their portfolio, if you look through a lot of their artstations you can quickly get an idea of the quality bar a lot of them are hitting. https://polycount.com/discussion/187512/recently-hired-in-aaa-show-us-your-portfolio/p1
I quickly sketched out, what I imagine an .obj exporter could look like: Those of you, how regularly export .objs for baking, are there some settings that should be set before exporting? E.g within Tool>Export? I could also imagine an option to add a suffix for individual files?
I quickly made a section... some of it is a mess; I don't want to send too much time doing this. Still, you should add more geo to your curved shapes. Model in quads etc. there's a "how to model them shapes" thread here on PC. You should look into it. Hope this helps :)
hey guys just a quick/smaller update. just throwing together my high poly displays. hopefully i can model the low polys and texture them still tonight. unfortunately i just caught a cold and am not feeling up to working as quickly as normal :( but ill give it my best.
this portfolio format stuff... its cool I'll give you that. but really the format is this: can I see your work quickly? is it bad ass? it is! your hired, done, ( that's it, seriously I am not kidding) 99.9% is the work, and how fast folks can get to it. So the question is... how strong is your portfolio?
looks good Swizzle, I really like the direction of the paintover, DKK, that pose is killer. figured I'd throw this up here since my zb4 thread disapeared so quickly. It's a high poly sculpt only and I really don't have time for an lp at the moment, but this is my final Heavy Henry:
Hi nice work. You should have made some sort of stitching pattern to the boots as they just seem like pasted on quickly reference material, the seam at the back of the boots is also very noticeable. You should also probably touch up the back of the head seam. Otherwise this came out, nice!
Thanks for your input, I've altered the width of the legs and torso, I hadn't even noticed the horn problem but I'll see if I can touch that up quickly. I swear those eyes are driving me nuts, I keep rotating them further outward and it just never looks right.
