so i am following a tutorial step by step using 3dsmax and mudbox(1st time) having issue with the hard seams on trash bag from normal map, gave the model the same smoothing group(was on tutorial) any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
I clearly haven't any clue why this is happening inside substance painter when baking low poly normals. When I am trying to Unify the normals from 3Dsmax changing the smoothing group's values.
I think I opened 3dsmax for the first time in 2009 and got into the industry as a character artist in 2014. I went to a video game art school in Belgium but the majority of the stuff I learned was from Polycount.
get Phenom II, much better than old Phenom for gamer. 5750 is great, but i always got some shader problem in 3dsmax with ati card. so 9800GT/GTX will be a good choice for work.
The way I like to do those is on the base Mesh in 3dsMax, I select my border edges and use the make shape from selection. Then I edit the viewport rendering setting of the generated spline :) and voil

Where you baked your normals? In Max? or in other apps? Did you used Handplane for the UDK normalmap? How your uvs/smoothing groups have set up? How it looks in the 3dsMax viewport?
