This is the newest environment that i am working on. I still have 2 weeks left to use on it. I am currently updating the hole in the roof and the edge dirt around the sides of the walls. After that i will add foliage. Any feedback would as always be awesome, the same goes for things that could make it more awesome.
Consider adding cornice to the ceiling, the way the new roof disappears into the walls is strange. And given the references you are using, you ought to make the lighting a lot more yellow. The strong white light coming in through the windows is a big part of why it feels very open. Nice work though, I like the materials.
Did a suuuuuper early WIP of the wizard's tower that all these props are going into. I still need to figure out how I'm going to do bricks, timbers, and roof tiles without any sort of textures, but I'm sure I'll be able to figure something out. If nothing else, I'll just model everything.
Wow that looks amazing! A shitload better than Anno! Theres a little alpha map issue on the roof on the 1st screenshot(and the glass windows?) :poly136: Really curious to how they did those cobblestones, parralax mapping? Its always great/refreshing to see games with a non-first person perspective use techniques like that!
but didn't Ando see the guy tackle him off the roof when he brought him his sword back? I am thinking west is going to be some evil twist in the plot. Damn I love this show. Even though this season has started off slow I am still enjoying it.
Good idea, awesome thread. Every enviro artist should know the basics of lighting. This type of knowledge crosses just about every platform and 3D app and its surprising how many people don't even bother. http://boards.polycount.net/showthread.php?t=51209#Post260972 More advanced 3dsMax Lighting Techniques…
Project introduction: This thread will be a place for documenting the progress of one of many cubes I'll be making in the coming year. Critique is wanted. If you see something that should not be there, or maybe something that you believe should be there but is not, please say so - even if I've written about it in the short…
Not too far from finishing this up now, should be done in a day or two. I've begun painting the backside of the shack now, using the style I learnt from finishing up the front view. The main jobs left are to finish off the other half of the roof and add to more detail to the rocks in shadow, behind the shack.
Added doors, roofs, some trims and probably other minor strange stuff. Changed far side windows to balance vertical lines (I think I'll have to do it on a few more places). Door looks very clean ingame compared to actual texture, maybe cause of the ambient light? I'm outta mentos!
