I think right your biggest weak point I see is that all your characters feel the same. They're all rubbery in body shape. Change it up a bit, get out of your comfort zone. Instead of another snail or snake like creature do something with a lot of musculature and limbs.
dialate would be the creature that cpt swing is refering too, I use it a fair bit at work. Beyond that if the object compliments it thene there is no problem with going rectangular on the maps....512x1024 for instance, which could save on your texture space. edit* aww balls beaten byace-angel...well thems the breaks :D

2 year necro inbound. My bad. Figured it was funnier than to just start fresh. Graduating soon and also starting to get back into drawing/digital painting so I'll be updating more than once every two years. Starting off with a creature, a Licker from the Resident Evil series.
I guess I've been neglecting the texturing phase a bit, I'll definitely put more effort in polishing from now on. I'll probably remake my portfolio, with a focus on creatures\characters and perhaps give it a sci fi theme to make consistent. Thank you guys so much for the amazing feedback!
True, true true. Zombies dont' but I'm glad he mentions the super virus- plague zombies from other movies (28 days later etc) that do in fact run. They, however, are not zombies, though they look like them. - i find these creatures much more frightening than the traditional zombie.
Is the creature supposed to be a stone sculpture? The muscles don't look very convincing if not. The edges are too sharp and the areas between them too wide. Just doesn't look organic. As for Michael Jackson, he's a bit paler than your version and I think the lipstick/coloring/whatever on his lips is more saturated.
Hi Dan! Yes, that's average Hero character spec when I outsource with a studio. That's also about how long it took for the badass character dudes at Vigil for most creatures. Individual contract artists tend to be a lot faster, though, in my experience. 20 days sounds like a terrific rate of speed!
@GhostDetector: Regarding your third paragraph, I do not think I can just "add armor" to an anatomically constructed creature and call it a strong character design. @artquest had a better idea with starting with a theme, which helped me push forward and make decisions the last time I did this contest.
why then in the beginning of the game did Talion tell his son that "They're not Orcs, they're Uruks. They're far worse and there's too many." i even remember some sort of confusion in the first movie where in Moria one character (maybe Gandalf?) referred to the creatures in there as Orcs, and Legolas referred to them as…
