This is looking like a good start. I think that there are too many straight edges going on though. If you spend a few more polys you will be able to add more denting to the roofs and walls. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this scene though ^_^
Filled in all greyblocks, woot! Also added some hanging wires and banners, and a skydome. I'm still missing alot of small debris, signs, roof bits, chinese lanterns, a car. But I got the core of the scene down and gonna start assembling my textures.
I´ve finished my overwork of the game mesh and highpoly, added more geometry to the cylindrical roof, made different versions of repeating modules, created new UV layouts (5 textures now), completed baking and started texturing. just some screengrabs here:
As I look at it more, I wonder about the layout a bit. Light posts in an alley? Also, what is the deal with that deck and the ladder? The only way to get to it is to climb down from the roof, and when you get there, there is nothing there, just windows. What purpose does it serve?
I'm not worried about the Kids, they should be outside playing hide and seek anway ... but most of us have done hide and seek. That time is passed. Now is the time of chilled wine, spice racks, 5-hob cookers, roof terraces and £700 Star Wars posters.
Also http://alanmitchellart.blogspot.com/ you got speed on me. lol I'm trying to go through and document everything as I go along right now I'm working on the roof edging. I feel it pertains because I am doing an asian env as well.
Hey James, I'd throw a point of interest into the town. There's nothing which draws my eyes in. Your houses are pretty simple, they're just cubes with a pointy roof. I'd suggest giving the town character by picking an interesting architecture style and then referencing houses like that.
Very impressive work! I am completely amazed and inspired. That cliff scene is really through the roof. My jaw was on the floor for a good few minutes upon seeing that. Care to share the Zbrush fibers grass technique? First I'm hearing of that. I love the results.
These latest shots are really nice, good colours and composition and the lighting has improved too. There does seem to also be some light bleed on that roof in the last shot. I cant tell well from here but maybe the wood texture on the barrels could be less flat.
I'm really liking the warmth of the floorboards color, particularly against that blue paint. The edge of the overhanging roof could use some more polys to avoid such a harsh, angular break. The lack of tessellation is taking away from the great detail you have elsewhere in the scene.
