Hello all, I did this old man as an exercise to learn mudbox and character modeling. This is my first human head and one of my first mudbox models. There are a ton of amazing artists on this forum and I look forward to hearing any comments or critiques to make my work better.
Making a simple tutorial for myself about setting up a character with animation in ue5. I'm sure there are plenty of these around, but just to cement the steps in my head. Here I made a simple character that I will be using for this. She's based off of pearl from Steven universe.
Thank for the comment and feedback, I actually baked the head normals onto the hair-cards, meanwhile and tweaked the material a bit after reading through a naughty dog presentation. Also imrpoved the iris with normal maps.. It looks best in motion, but heres a glimpse:
Hey Josh, I know this isn't really a portfolio feedback thread anymore, however just to let you know that I clicked through to your page to have a look and Chrome is warning may that there is Malware ahead, so just a heads up.
What I want to add,in your already shown projects as a first picture you dont have your work but other peoples work. A person going through the portfolios does not read the comments, and what they see will propably be in their head that its yours.
^ OH GOD YES, OH LORDY, MY JOLLIES! YES, YES, YES! The only thing more epic would be a mod so that when I put a metal cauldron on someone's head, your hear the reverb and vibrations from the item and voice.
the only thing max can't do is mirror uv's across a seam which headus uv layout can. ie you want to mirror head uv's but you don't want to use symmetry. there are long winded work arounds I suppose
Another update. Started working on the head some more. Still trying to decide what to do for the ultimate weapon that'll tie in well with the design. Threw in a few farther shots to get an idea how he will read from far away in game.
I know Ryan "Aftermath" Hawkins frequents these boards and he's part of the DW staff, so hopefully he sees this and starts busting some heads! It really blows to hear all that, dude. I hope you get your stuff in the end.
