Hey Vader, the glow comes from the red channel of Mask 1, it's all listed in the Dota 2 mask guide PDF. http://media.steampowered.com/apps/dota2/workshop/Dota2ShaderMaskGuide.pdf
Hey all, I saw someone asking about hard surface in ZBrush and decided it's about time I posted something. A few months ago I finished a character for university using only ZBrush for the hard surface modelling (Topogun and Maya for Re-topo and UV) and thought the techniques I used might be of use to anyone who has not…
I think that Sobel math style "rate of change in normal direction across <n> pixels" is what causes seams issues working in UV space . in Blender you could just do dot product with world space normal map ( Considering the world space normal map is baked as direct output (emit) with -1-to-1 scale ) It gives same edge for…
Well looking at your models most of them are rather primitive, the barrel and cup are cylinders. You can create cylinders very quickly in just about any program and extruding a handle or some edges to your cylinder also isn't too hard. A shirt is something that in zbrush for example you can create by just masking out and…
I would like to transfer painted masks between two projects with the same UV. I know I can reimport a mesh. But I want to export painted layers (especially for masks) to another substance project.
I think it's a lot faster if you just mask a group of rings around the handle in zbrush, extract them out, mask some in overlapping spots, do it again etc.
Open up your masks texture in UE4 and set the compression to "Masks". That will switch to linear space which will give you a better visual result. It doesn't do this automatically unfortunately.
What helder said :) In case you need to mask it because you do not want it applied to the entire material that uses the texture you can add a mask in the alpha of the diffuse.
are you changing the blend mode to masked, cody? to see, click on the channel input box to see the base material settings--there'll be a blend mode called masked or something like that.
The insane amount of detail is awesome! That mask is going to look sweet when normal mapped! question: you started with the mask, did you make the head first? or start on the googles.
