You really shouldn't do floors like that. You're using over 20 draw calls for that small piece of floor (Epic recommends less than 2000 draw calls). In this case I'd probably use BSP. But I do agree that lightmass isn't that stellar when you know its limitations :(
Instances are still mesh items, so they still have their own pivot and center. I believe you are looking for Replicators, not mesh instances. Keep in mind you'll need to enable replicator drawing under Viewport settings ("o" key), drawing and control tab to see more than just their bounding box.
Noted, I will make some time to try high poly work, and cut down a bit on quantity. Should I remove the Game Jam and Drawing portion of my portfolio then? I feel like it doesn't serve me well, but I read online its good to show some drawings/concepts.
After some coffee, I change my mind. You should find a sugar momma that loves to cook, clean, works 80hrs a week, and is up for posing for a few hours every night. Humm scratch that last part, all the life drawing models I've ever had to draw where "interesting"...

Hi. I've been self-teaching myself a lot of game art, mostly concept art, I've done well enough to have a few freelance work, but the more I know about this industry, the more I start to think a career in games is a bad idea? Before this I was a graphic designer and even though I had some very busy days with a lot of work,…
Hello polycount world. Hello everyone who reads the record. There are different projects. That is something to work for now. I want to start with some of my work. The works are old. But if they do not, I would not be here) And I'll make small tutorials. Which will be understood by all. I hope)) Here we go.My first model…
Ok a quick step by step guide on how to UVW map in 3DS Max via the 'seaming' method. Its probably not perfect or the most effiecient way but it allows the user full control on where they would like the texture and seams to be placed. Made a basic cylinder and applied an UNWRAP UVW modifier to the object. I then DESELECTED…
While it is quite good in its arts, the rest leave much to be desired. Especially the game design from what little they showed in the video. It looks like a very generic linear storyline. Other than hiding from the police bots, she still has a goal to reach, and that goal can only be reached in a specific way. Unless I am…
No problem. For the lighting its just a combination of an orange light at intensity 1 and a blue light at intensity 0.25. I use those cos they make your scenes look richer. For the sand waves I was sloppy but if you're more careful you'll end up with a much much better result. First, draw smae lines that look like sand…
