Hi Daniel, I've been having a selection problem on a different project. Just found the cause of it: -Window Crossing! This should be set to the default to avoid annoying selection issues!

Here's a quick update with the checkerboard. Default Marmoset settings, with one light. I need to fix my spec though, it looks like plastic when the light is close.
Previous versions of Max kept gamma turned off, but in 2012 they decided to enable it by default. Keep it disabled and you're good to go. It's not needed at all for general modeling/texturing.
Nice, it looks way better than the default weapon models :) How many polys? Looks pretty detailed, just wondering if you're in the high hundreds or high thousands...
