When I start thinking about it in my sleep... Usually about the time I start thinking I need to add more objects or texture techniques... I know I need to stop because I'm going to overwork it and it will become completely different from what I intended.
So what's the intended end result? Is this for rendering in Max only? If you're rendering it, there are a few different ways to tackle this. You could look into 3d procedural displacement instead (which isn't just a planar displacement), or you could blend another micro displacement into the areas with low (stretchy)…
@njc6425: I agree that it's not optimal, I really wish I had time to complete the character. I terminated them that way because I wanted to make sure the viewer understood that I didn't intend the piece to be complete. Really wish I could see Jeremy23's images....
Actually yes, more of a more spiraled stair case was my original thought, then was concepting during the block out stage and tried the straight stair set. I am intending to make a spiraled set to, so I can swap out and see how it looks with everything. Thanks for the reply! :)
The questions don't seem to fit their intended topic. I don't see much that relates to videogames and their relationship with players. Feels more like videogames and their effect on anger/violence which is a played out topic at this point. This is a good opportunity to ask questions that haven't been asked before and get…
Here's the Y settings in my viewer I have unchecked it and it seems to be working as intended now. Thanks for the help. I just want to make sure though...this should be switched on if I am trying to imported this elsewhere (Like Substance/UE4)? So it's going to look the complete opposite on export?
just accept that the windows explorer was never intended to shine in this area, just use XnView as a browser with a crazy amount of file format support and some scripts to convert and batch process them. Personally I always hated the windows preview: slow, creates temporary hidden files + very limited.
Thanks gauss. I'd say that's what I intended, but I'm just anal is all. Spacey: nice! Ortho for freelance work. Perspective shot that came out kinda lame. Can't say I like it, but the feathers and animal anatomy were definitely a first for me and it came out acceptable.
Look into HD sculpting mode as well. It's a very old and very overlooked technique that allows you to go into billions of points with little performance hit. I would avoid Dynamic Sub-D. It is intended for hard-surface modeling and a completely different topology than optimal organic sculpting topology.
Awesome, thanks for the replys thus far guys. I'll definately keep updating for more feedback. Winterlord: Zealot is a class in the upcoming Warhammer Online. www.warhammeronline.com I kinda took it my own direction just to have some fun with it, but I intend to stay pretty close to the costume design.
