Set up your cage. In mayas transfer texture tool there is a dropdown that allows you view the cage. You can edit it after it is visible. By edit i mean, move the verteces around. You cant add or remove vertices. The vert count/order needs to be exactly the same.
hi there.. try without "optimize" and also try to snapshot the mesh, convert to or from editable poly and back again. You could check if the edit normals modifier shows awkward normals and maybe it's possible to normalize them there or reset them. Try another material (is this a direct x material?)
humm it gives it a double extension "default.kbs.txt". I think that is just for users convenient personal reference. Because when you try and load it back in it's looking for a .kbs file. Maybe if you drop the .txt after editing? or can you edit a .kbs file with a standard text editor?
This is correct. Keep in mind that you might lose your manual edits if you go back and change your dynamask. edit: also, should probably change the "Force Refresh 3DO" button's tooltip to 'Force refresh viewer", since it also refreshes your linked app (such as tb2).
So, Your script is fine. Its merely something to do with how the VertexPaint modifier works. I think maybe the best route to go about this is to get the values from channel 0 (RGB Vertex Color) and invert that way. That way it will work with editable mesh and editable poly.
I use turn to poly rather than edit poly - it exposes more (usually Maya related) weirdness in the mesh than putting an edit poly on does. resetting xforms will fix any number of weird things so it's always worth a pop if you're after a quick fix...
Hey Perna would you mind sharing the regedit for what the edit task does? I tried changing mine the other day and it didn't work out, now when I click edit it just comes up with a dialogue box asking what program to open with. Thanks!
If I understand your question correctly, what youll want to do is: enter edit mode, select the faces that you want to flip, and press Ctril+Shift+F to flip the triangle edges. You can also find this command in edit mode under the Mesh->Faces menu.

Nice find! Speaking of, anyone know of an easy tool to edit .8bf plugins? I've got a few scattered ones and hate having a long filters list. I've hex-edited a number of them to group them up better, but it would be much easier to have a little app for it.
