Yeah, the masks are just a little bit customized, however I will look for good reference images and reduce the amount of rust. Thank you so much for the feedback :)

Because it's set to 'area', not 'angle'. Area-wise, they both cover the same amount of pixels. If you set it to 'Angle' you'll likely see an entirely different picture.
That's looking good so far! They all seem to fit together very nicely, and there's an appropriate amount of detail. I'll be interested to see how they look with textures on them.
Think of it as the same thing as Level Of Detail on polygon models. As you get further away from the object, its quality is reduced by a certain (specific or automatic) amount.
Why is your cloth using such a ridiculous amount of texture space? you also seem to have a lot of unique bits that really dont have to be, like the stock.
When institutions everywhere are charging huge amounts of money for tuition , it always inspires me when anyone trains anyone else for free ^^ I've sent a PM =)
The last images you posted: You could reduce the polys by a large amount by just using some tris. Are these your base meshes for sculpting or low-polys?
