Melee Weapons - Chivalry Medieval Warfare (PBR)
I converted my "not so old" Chivalry Medieval Warfare weapons to PBR metalness workflow. For the conversion I used Krita and the layered psd files I originally created. Was pretty easy, the tweaking takes a bit of time. Textures are 1024x2048 for the swords and 2048x2048 for the axe. Marmoset Viewer and some more images… -

I plan to make something battleworn and really play into the Mason theme. Dark steel, red and mean. Quick inspirational thingy (literally 10 minutes during lunch break). Got this falchion sword hammered out Monday and Tuesday. LOD0 ended up being only about 2k triangles, so that's nice. Starting the last weapon, a bladed mace, this morning. Hey guys. i finally finished up this guy. it took wayyy too long :D The plan from the start was to learn substance, and i think i did (and love it) :) The texture is 99% substance painter, only they eye was created in Photoshop. its 2 2k maps and a 1024x512 for the sword. hope you like it. -

A little more progress, been playing with hair and lighting. Still not happy with it, but gonna make the sword and pose him for some final renders. Wooo! -

I'd try to make his armor non-symmetrical so that he looks more unique and his silhouette is broken up a bit. This is completely up to you but I would exaggerate some of his anatomy or stance so it looks less human. Great start! I really like the sword and facial structure. -

A small trick I use to help with late revisions is actually leaving about 10 - 20% of UV space blank (usually on one corner), more often than not, when the finish line is very close clients require a new shirt, a sword, helmet, or want to replace current piece with a longer and bigger one. -

Tis is all very cool. What are the poly counts used in this game? i remember playing the demo of dow and the models look higher poly than your standard rts. Im realy loving just hte simple walk animation with the guy in the sword. Its very good along with the cloth swaying nicely. -

personally I think 6x8 is just right. 4x5 is a tad cramped for me, while a 6x8 allows me the perfect amount of space to draw with little more than wrist movement. And I've used some of the bigger tablets, where drawing feels like your sword fighting...yeeaaa 6x8 is the perfect center. -

Hey, the models shown look great, the only thing i have to say is that the "dark knight" character's armor looks far to similar to Arthas' armor from the Warcraft 3 cinematics. especially in the legs. Also the sword is very similar to Frostmourne. Other than that your work looks pretty good. Keep it up!
