Yes, this has been mentioned and discussed, I am working on a way to add watermarks, etc. To images on the site that are applied after the page is rendered out so that they don't get cropped, which is the issue we were running into. I think I have it figured out, addressing this item first as it seemed to be the priority…
Maybe time for me to start my Mel-Script thread... I'm not a programmer, a simple 3d artist... ...But I always like to develop tools to maximise the efficiency of the members of my team. I think it's the most important point on a project. (because of money and human is not an animal and don't have to repeat everytime the…
Some more props. Looking at these I'm curious for feedback on polycounts. For example some smaller props like the hookah are higher poly than the larger tables and chairs here, due to lots of curves and little detail. I don't want to lose the intricacies but want to make sure to keep the poly counts reasonably balanced…
Id say 75% of these maps were constructed with single player assets. The other 15% was us creating new props, kit bashing existing props, and retexturing certain props to fit our needs. As far as consistency goes, we had the Lead CG artist in japan review our stuff periodically THANKS!:poly122: THANKS!:poly142:
I don't think you can scale any props inside of hammer like you can in unreal. I think there could be some scale parameters inside the .qc files? But I've never played with them, but that would mean compiling a new prop wouldn't it? If you can scale props I would love to know how.
Holy week of awesome, Batman! We're getting a little selfish with this recap today. Terrible, I know. Here now are the goods from this past week at Polycount. Polycount Jaco has a thing for sexy aliens. You know how I know? Parties. Whiskey. Robots. ebagg. Nick Carver cooked up this crazy creative vehicle, the Bull. Mezz…
Hello, I have just created a destroyable office phone prop using the guidelines at: http://freesdk.crydev.net/display/SDKDO ... le+Objects I used the method that uses the "main" and "remains_01" parts, making the phone pop out of the receiver when shot. So far it works technically, but even if I go through setting UDP…
Keys on the keyboard have shadows. Whats the point of modeling and getting a normal map when your photosourcing something that already has shadows and specularity in it? Anyways, would stray away from "firehydrant, garbage-can" type props. Unless its apart of a larger scene, they are generic props that are pretty much in…
Well, if it were full-time I'd say yeah, that is slow. I would not set two weeks for a skull in any scenario really - think of it in hours - thats one-hundred and twenty work hours for what, a prop or a small portion of a character. The fact that you effectively retopologised an existing high poly makes that even more…
Environment arist can mean a lot of things. Technically, an environment artist may be required to make everything in the game world not related to characters. I've done a ton of different duties in an environment artist role, and some of my co-workers had even more random stuff that they focused on at some point or other.…
