Made a quick bake for the w3 model. I know there are things to fix on the n map but I think it is quite good for a quickie. The lp is not really optimized but I tried to to make it as fast as possible so the topology on it is not the ideal one.
From the video it seems that you are trying to unwrap an n-gon, and I think that algorithm can't figure out how to solve it. Try to tessellate to a decent amount of polygons, there should be an internal tool or plugin that do that in 3ds Max.
Looking good, will try out soon! Btw: a simple version of Smart Edge Loop/Ring exists in Autodesks own Maya Bonus Tools (Select N-th Edge in Loop/Ring), yours seems better though.
just invert the green color channel in the normalmap? and yes you're on the right track with your texture. grab some more grunge textures to avoid the painterly look n feel of the dirt stuff - if realism is what youre aiming for.
cheers man! ye these are super wip, what u see there are the base outfits before a proper dirt/wear n tear pass, will keep uploading as I progress! (also there will be about 2-4 face variants as well! ;) )
@ Disting / sltrOlsson / fabio brasilien / snow / A-N-P: Thanks a lot! Will try to keep it up :) @ vofff: There's actually no artwork of the tank. If I recall it right I started with the Idea of a Turreted version of this West German Tank Versuchstr
Great work, and some really great games to have worked on :) I see you worked at N-Space once as well, fun times :D Do you have any plans on showing wires/ texture sheets?
So far my girlfriend bought me 4 shirts from some of my favorite bands (Alice Cooper, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Guns N Roses) and a Blurr Transformers figure I had been looking for. :)
There is no way to assign a shortcut key to the button in max, but this script will do the same thing (and more), and you can assign a shortcut to it. Works up to MAX 2009, not sure about 2010. http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/pivotplacer -N!
this has come up before but i've yet to find a solid solution so i'm bumping the request. anybody know of an automated / scripted solution to extrude / inset a face with a circle of N edges ? or. chamfer a vertex to similar result ? maya specific. thanks
