Very nice start. My opinion is that it never hurts to deviate slightly from the concept if you think it makes more sense another way. Unless this is for a client or specific person, its just practice, and yes you want to show you can model to concept, just also picking out flaws (such as a dwarf is to fat to go in there)…
Cool stuff! That render is awesome but I agree about the uncanny valley feeling - can't quite put my finger on it, I think it's mainly the eyes and lack of natural human expression that makes it look robotic. A little tweaking to give him some expression and focus for his eyes would probably help a ton for making it look…
Oh I know I have a hallway on my website and its not terribly impressive ;) It was more to support the robot than the focus itself. My feedback sounds harsh, sorry if I offended. You're someone I particularly enjoy seeing push themselves so I was a bit taken back by this project. As I said, what you've done is really well…
@snake85027 Thanks ! This kind of things will come when I will get a bigger scene to show off. -------- I'm still working on this project, at a slow pace unfortunately. I had my hands on some other things lately. Now that I consider the computer "done" I'm working toward the center of the room when I plane to display the…
Unfortunately, Max favors Z up turntable style orbiting. Since you're in bottom view it's going to be weird with mouse navigation. There are two workaround though. 1. Instance your model and rotate the instance so that you can work comfortably in the front view. I do this a lot with robot parts on appendages of characters.…
This little guy came about after a freelance job didn't come together, it happens sometimes, so to make use of the time, I had a play in 3Ds Max, which is nice to do on occasion and this is the result. I'm trying to spend my free hours working on him. I've decided now that he will form part of a Diorama, as a robot used to…
Personally, I think its crazy to take on both environment and characters like these. But I think its safe to say that if a studio put this type of workload on to you, they would leave it up to you to decide what to start with first. Here is what I would do, first block out the scene but don't worry about the little details…
These two examples will both be the same number of triangles. Game engines do not render quads or n-gons. All assets will be converted into tris when you export. I'd do the one on the left just because it's less likely to break when it's converted into triangles and is just easier to work with. have a close look at the…
Thanks everyone! @Konstruct yea man, i the way i see the concept is its more of a robot head than a human head or atleast a full mask, but for whatever reason i decided add in an organic area. @ReverendK I think the silhouette will fix itself up once i add in more stuff, the large curve in the shoulders will be added once…
Its funny to watch ME3 trailer and that Spiderman trailer after that :D ,deja vu.. Damn that Metal Gear looks dumb. First you see people cutting soldiers with one strike, then you see gameplay where you have to slash soldiers for ages before they go into pieces, and i know imagination is nice when doing games but when you…
