This one looks baked (has padding), and those channels don't look like seperate maps (weird artifacts, flat). So I would guess this is actually a 2-channel/"yellow" normalmap. I would do the left arm in IK when its planted on the leg - and then switch it to FK when you gesture. That will allow you to do your body moves and keep that arm planted again your leg. If you hate switching then I would do the left arm in IK the whole time - will just take a lot more keys to get it feeling "non ik" -
