Your portfolio is the most important thing for getting a job. A degree can be icing on the cake, but if someone whose work is better than yours but doesn't have a degree applies for the position, they'll still probably get it. BUT - there is a lot to be learned at school. I mean, everything you need to know can be learned… -

Mostly good advice, thanks for writing this up, and for sharing it! However a couple things I noticed... UV seams do not cause drawcalls. When the model uses more than one material... this is what causes additional draw calls. Edit... a draw call is when the game engine has to send a new set of vertices to the graphics… -

You're wrong about the maquettes and drawing though as StJoris said, a friend (also classmate) of mine was on an internship at an architectual office and they did everything by hand :D (with rulers etc. ;) ).… -

I agree with the advice of Ben. It just takes too long to see anythin. Loading times were a bit long in some cases. Don't split your portfolio in too much subsections. Maybejust differ between Modelling, Drawing and Digital Painting. To your work: Nice drawings. Akthough I don't like the Digital Panitngs. Those pieces are… -

I'd like to add that I went to a gmae art school. It was Digipen. Now the thing that is different about DP, is that for the first year and a half, you dont toucha computer. you draw your ass off. Like 50 pgs a week, in just one class. You paint your ass off, and you sculpt a bit too. Then, you go onto computers. I wont say… -
