Weird... The OBJ imported and was horribly messed up like you showed, but it all magically cleaned up when I applied edit poly. I'm using 2011 and it might be a bug in 2010 that 2011 fixes automatically when it analyzes meshes. If that doesn't work try applying a Turn To Poly modifier and check on "keep polys convex" that…
I guess we should all go magical differed shading and only develop our games for one console to rectify this trolls problem right? Forget about all the cool materials being rendered in the game I WANT DIFFERED! Any way you cant beat the complaints..... If we simplified all our materials to play with the ps3 better. Then…
Nice ideas! I haven't yet figured out how to add games to this... certainly if the app got featured or a period of good sales I'd dump some time into it. Kids seem happy enough messing with ducks. I think the next update will have new objects, that will interact in interesting ways. Bit of a puzzle figuring out a logical…
I think I found a solution, I used some shader magic stuff and actually cut my terrain in half. I think i got it now, Thanks a lot for the reply. It sometimes just takes a day of surfing the web for help until you find that golden Link :) EDIT: What i did first was do a sharpen in UDK on the actual texture and in photoshop…
Just in case others didn't pick up on it from the video. It's not magically adding any details ala CSI sharpen filters. It "only" tries to remove the motion blur caused by the camera moving while taking a picture. So it should be very much like a after the fact anti shake feature. It won't fix your out of focus pictures…
Thanks for the replys. Actually i'm using Actor X because i couldn't get the smoothing groups to work with FBX but that may just be my own mistake. I did notice that Maya 2012 does not have an Actor X plugin, That must be why.. So UDK really doesn't support it any more? Interesting. I just have so much to learn :poly122:.…
I was kind of workshopping the idea with some guys in a polycount chat, decided on having him fly on a gust of steam discount tickets. -66% etc fluttering around like leaves in the breeze. He'd just hold the ban hammer upward like Thor. Happy to hear any more ideas though haha, Docm's manhack is pretty sick as well.…
Well, you'll get an AO map, but it'll probably have some shadows around the edges of the floating geometry. You could either paint them out or ignore them. For this type of thing you might be better off just using a Crazybump pass instead of "real" AO, or you could do something like Magic Wand select the "flat" area in the…
I think Vig pretty much nailed it as far as optimization goes. What's holding those boards up? Are they nailed, screwed, glued or what? Can't really tell from your render. Maybe the camera is too far away, but right now the boards look like they're magically stuck together. It's just nitpicking really. Also, what's your…
I like #2 I think it would be interesting to to see some one pull off a very old yet some how graceful evil or good witch that has some sort of pretty sense about her. Life itself drained from her yet her magic keeps her alive. Make her saggy were she needs to be (chest, belly, arms ect.) but keep the I am still trying to…
