Hey, heres a game I've worked on for the past 9 months at AICLA. I was the lead designer/level designer along with other students in a production team called "Game Wizards". Its a class for Game Art & Design students to get a hack at what its like to work in a studio environment. For each project we pitch ideas and the…
Anybody know what the maximum size of a mesh is inside 3DS Max? I'm using the 64-bit 2015 version, and trying to make a 1:1 scale sphere of Earth's size, for later use in a game engine. It might be down-scaled later, but we're working on a realistic simulation game so it needs to be as accurate as possible. I'm having…
@Ruz I'm in tears writing this... Actually your beautiful post reminded me to update Meeka's details with Central Animal Records which I'd finally completed today as deceased, tbh I've dreaded to do since her passing because previous owners had her micro-chipped. Now if memory serves was only by chance when initially found…
Art is more fun? wtf?!? no I think the point is it's a lot easier to post some art as to post some code at online boards. coding is a lot of fun and there are a lot of coders outside. But if you're a coder you have to work longer on one "thing" before it's ready to be shown/used anyhow.. I would say.. give yourself a…
^ Pretty much what DDuckworth posted :) As far as the work goes, the largest thing I see wrong with your portfolio is that alot of it seems like padding. Outside the anatomy drawings and self portrait, you can safely get rid of most of the 2d stuff. And then work on replacing them with further studies in the same vein, or…
Naughty Dog had a lot of discussion of gamma correction in some presentations in the past few years. Most licensed engines now support gamma correction pipelines, but it's generally not well supported for mobile versions since post-processing is so slow. UDK and Unity both support it for PC and not for mobile.
It looks like 3dmotive has reorganized and in the process lost their old news posts. Here is a version of that article hosted at my site: http://www.alecmoody.com/unreal_normals/ This workflow is partially outdated now- Looks up the imported tangents workflow added to the july 2012 UDK build or check out handplane.
SPOILERS It's disappointing to see how many people still think that the island was purgatory, etc and that everyone died in the crash. Pay attention to Christian's speech: he makes it clear that the island was real and that while everyone in the church was dead, they didn't die in the crash. Some died before Jack did…
Does anybody have some of the older models in this thread?, if you do can you please post a link or something here. i can host the files indefinitely once i have them but i cant get most of these. these would be a great learning tool for both modelling and texturing.
1) Is it legal? I don't know. But I suspect probably not. It doesn't matter much though because Gumroad is a private market place and can just delete your tutorial if they get a complaint or a DMCA takedown. 2) Could you get away with it? Maybe. Depends on whether the artist feels its worth their time to bother pursuing…
