Thank you JMan86, there's still some work I have to do for the Knee pads and those arm braces. I don't want them to look like they're just floating on air. Thanks again for your reply.
I'm liking the floating shards of "glass" idea with H and I. In a specific pattern, it would make for a fantastically interesting silhouette, like the Promethean Knights in Halo 5. More shards appear or flare out as the lights spool up.
Its normal maps and PBR, all the floating geo from the first image is baked onto the low poly. I used the provided smart materials in Substance Painter to create the textures you see with some tweaks in the settings.
Does this only happen in the viewport or also when you play in editor? Is that issue depending on the amount of tiling? I'd guess it's some kind of floating point inaccuracy. (Maybe caused by your screen resolution which is not divisible by 4?).
With CSS you can create floating menus that are always visible. A bit more setup time, but easier for the user to navigate your site. Frames cause other problems too, like links loading in the frame instead of in the window.
For some reason when I saw the thread title I was expecting 3d planes.. like.. 1 single polygon floating in 3d space. This is infinitely more interesting. I like them! What are the specs on these, polycount, textures?
I love the spec maps for that first image. But seriously, I would look into the shadows on your grass. Right now you've got that floating disconnect that just immediately draws my eyes and takes me out of the image.
Uhhh that is a difficult one, and Jeff, the guy who wrote it and whom I would normally ask is currently on vacation. I want to say it has something to do with 32-bit floating point hdr textures, but that may not be right.
these are just concepts, to bend my head around made in sketchup. I still have mountains of stuff to model. The theme is mid evil ages, and semi industrial on the other side with a mine, floating ariships, sort of semi fantasy.
The best dreams are the ones where you're modeling with no interface, its like the model is just floating in front of you and you can just move it around with your hands...yeah...in my dreams modeling is so much better.
